The Lot Porter assists both the Sales and Service Departments in maintaining the new and used car lots, and in transporting vehicles to appropriate departments for service and inventory control.

Under the state of Oklahoma's Unity Bill, this position is classified as a "Safety Sensitive Position" due to the job requirement of driving a vehicle.  


High school diploma or the equivalent.

Job-Specific Expectations

Parks vehicles in accordance with policy and under direction of Sales/Marketing to ensure that the lot is attractive to potential buyers.

Assist Sales and Service Staff in moving vehicles to ensure efficient dealership operations.

Responsible for adding and maintaining key tags and window stickers on all lot vehicles.

Drives vehicles to other dealerships for 'dealer swaps' or to other vendors as requested.

May pick-up or deliever customers as requested using dealership vehicles.

Ensure cleanliness of showroom and vehicles in the showroom. All new vehicles should be free of finger prints, smudges, and dust at all times.

Inspect new vehicles as they arrive by transport. Report any discovered damages. Verify the presence of accessories listed on the invoice, and list any missing accessories.

Compare serial numbers of incoming cars against invoice.

Move sold vehicles to maximize use of space and keep the lot in order.

Deliver sold vehicles to the new vehicle preparation department.

Ensure that all customer cars are washed to specifications and in a timely fashion.

Maintain new vehicle inventory appearance and performance by assuring the interior and exterior cleanliness.

Make sure that all demo's and service loaners are clean and gassed.

Coordinate with Sales that all sold cars are ready for their scheduled delivery time.

PIck up trash in the parking lot upon arriving to work.

Hang sale tags.

Deliver sold vehicles to the new-vehicle preparation department.

Assist in detailing sold units or washing customer vehicles in the wash bay as needed.
